BUSKIRK, Ky. - Grab your rafts, kayaks, canoes, tubes and paddles. If it floats, bring it and participate in the third annual Hatfield McCoy House Inn Flotilla, which will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 22 in the Tug Fork River.
The event will traverse new waters of the "mighty Tug" this year as participants will enter at the Hatfield and McCoy Park in Buskirk, Kentucky and float to the infamous Burnwell Beach.
Last year's Flotilla began in Williamson at the Second Avenue Bridge and floated to the boat ramp behind the old El Azul Mexican Restaurant in South Williamson.
The Flotilla is a free event. A shuttle service will be offered to bring participants back to the starting point. Participants that plan on using the shuttle service are asked to arrive by 9 a.m.
Additionally, Mountaintop Adventures, located at Twin Hollow Campground in Gilbert, will be renting kayaks for the event for $25 with a life jacket included. Personal flotation devices are not required for the event but are recommended, particularly for children under the age of 13.
Hundreds of participants flocked to the Tug River valley for last years event and judging by the activity on the event's Facebook page the turnout for the 2019 edition will be another huge success.
