MAN — The Man High School girls' basketball team remained winless on the season with Monday's 46-44 loss at home to Mingo Central at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

Man fell to 0-13 on the season with the loss, while the Miners improved to 4-8.

The Lady Billies dug themselves in a whole as they fell behind 23-2 after the first quarter of play, however, Man never quit and battled back to outscore Mingo Central 15-3 in the second to pull to within 26-17 at the half.

The Miners led 42-29 after three and held on to win as Man outscored Mingo Central 15-4 in the fourth quarter.

Mingo Central was led in scoring by Scarlett Thomason's 21 points. Cassidy Cline netted eight points, while Maliyah Martin tossed in six.

Allie Meade paced the Lady Billies with a 16-point effort. Macy Cline also broke into double digits in scoring with 11 points as did Ci Ci Mosley who had 10. Rileigh Bowen added three and Olivia Ramsey and Caleigh Brown netted two points each.

During Man's second quarter comeback, Meade scored six points and Cline also hit a pair of hoops in the final 56 seconds.

Man cut the margin to just eight points at the 5:40 mark of the third quarter on an inside-the-paint shot by Mosley to make it 29-21.

Thomason was able to score seven of her points in the frame as the Miners took a 42-29 lead after three. Man, however, continued to rally.

Macy Cline drained a 3-pointer to trim Mingo Central's lead to just 43-40 with 4:01 left in the game. The Miners' Cassidy Cline then hit one of two free throws to make it a two possession game at 46-42 with 1:17 left.

Then with four seconds remaining in the game, Meade scored a bucket and was fouled, cutting the Mingo lead to just 46-44. Meade missed the free throw and Mosley grabbed the rebound but missed the stick back as the Miners held on for the win.

Man is scheduled to host Tug Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Mingo Central improved to 3-11 with the win and was scheduled to host Knott County Central, Kentucky, on Tuesday night. The Miners play at Fairmont Senior on Jan. 21 in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
