STANVILLE, Ky. - The Belfry Lady Pirates received a dominating performance from both Kenzie Maynard and Kylea Stanley as they combined for 43 of their teams 64 points in a 64-46 win over Betsy Layne this past weekend.

Maynard, just a sophomore, recorded her first triple-double of the season as she had a monster game finishing with 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds, swatting 14 shots, and dishing out six assists.

The 14 blocks were a season high for Maynard and gave her a total of 98 for the season. She leads the way in the state for most blocks per game with seven.

Stanley had her best game since transferring back to Belfry from Pike Central in the off-season as she scored a game high 22 points on 11-18 shooting from the floor.

The Lady Pirates, coached by Kevin Deskins, came rolling out of the locker rooms to start the game as they jumped ahead by 10 after just one quarter of play leading 16-6. They extended the lead in the second as they took a 32-18 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Belfry would cruise the rest of the way and win the remaining two quarters by two points each as they clinched the 64-46 15th region win.

Senior guard Ariel Mounts joined Maynard and Stanley in double figures as she flipped in 11 points, while Lyndsey Miller scored four and Robbi-Ann Brewer finished with three.

Betsy Layne was led in scoring by Katie Kidd's 16 points while Kimberly Akers and Madilyn Meade both scored eight for the Lady Bobcats.

Belfry shot the ball fairly well from the floor finishing 28-63 for 44 percent while Betsy Layne hit 18-36 shots for 50 percent.

The Lady pirates struggled at the foul line only hitting 7-21 shots while BL hit 10-17.

Belfry however committed only 11 turnovers while forcing Betsy Layne into 25.

With the win the Lady pirates improved their record to 6-8 on the season and looked to stay in the win column as they traveled to 15th region power Shelby Valley on Tuesday. Stats and scoring from that game was not available at press time but will be in Friday's Williamson Daily News.
