GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Belfry Lady Pirates traveled to Greenville, Tennessee, following the Christmas holiday to play four games in the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic.

They went 1-3 in the tournament but sophomore Kenzie Maynard was named to the 2018 all-tournament team and set a record for most blocks in the history of the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic with 27. Maynard averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds and over six blocks across the four game span against top competition.

In the opening game last Wednesday, Belfry fell to the host Greenville Lady Devils by a final score of 60-52. The Lady Devils led 26-24 at halftime and 43-37 after three periods.

Belfry closed to 45-41 early in the fourth, but the Devils were able to improve their lead to 10 and Belfry never got closer than six in the closing minutes.

The Lady Pirates were led by Maynard's 16 points and eight rebounds while senior Kylea Stanley also reached double figures with 15 and grabbed seven rebounds.

Greenville was led by senior Leah Fillers as she filled t up throughout the night finishing with a game high 26 points.

Franklin County 54, Belfry 40

In the second game of the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic the Belfry Pirates played in-state foe Franklin County and fell to the 11th region squad by a final of 54-40.

The Lady Flyers moved out to a quick 17-9 lead after one quarter and seemed to have things under control at 32-17 by intermission. Belfry kept hanging around, but could never close the gap back to single digits.

Brooklyn Miles paced Franklin's scoring with 16 points, while Patience Laster had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Samareah Levarity also netted 10 points and grabbed nine boards for the Flyers (10-4).

Belfry's Kenzie Maynard tied a Ladies Bank Classic single game tournament record with nine blocked shots, tying a record set in 2012 by Gigi Bailey of Charlotte Christian out of North Carolina. She was one blocked shot short of posting a triple-double, as she gunned in 19 points and had 12 rebounds for Belfry.

Belfry 72, Chuckey-Doak 30

The Belfry Lady Pirates and coach Kevin deskins got into the win column in their third game of the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic as they beat Chuckey Doak High School by a final score of 72-30.

The Lady Pirates held a 26-4 first quarter lead, but Chuckey-Doak had a good second quarter and closed it back to 42-24 by intermission. But Belfry responded in the third, outscoring the Knights 17-4 to regain a comfortable margin and cruise to the easy win.

Kylea Stanley led Belfry (5-6) with 17 points, while Ariel Mounts had 14, Lyndsey Miller 13 and Linzee Phillips 12. The Knights (0-12) were led by Rebecca Higgins with nine points.

North Greene 49, Belfry 42

The Belfry Lady Pirates played their final game of the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic on Saturday and they fell late in a tight game to North Green High School out of Greenville, Tennessee.

The Lady Pirates came out of the locker room and played well early on as they led 27-25 at intermission. The Lady Huskies rallied however with an 18-7 run in the third period to take the lead and refused to give it up the rest of the way.

Belfry's Kenzie Maynard led the Lady Pirates with 17 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots. Maynard set a new Ladies' Classic record for blocked shots in a tournament with a total of 27, surpassing Jasmine Williams of Morristown West, who blocked 23 shots in the 2015 tournament.

The Lady Huskies (12-4) got 12 points from Breezy Savage and 10 points from Shelby Davenport, while Charlotte Roschkowski had nine points and eight rebounds to help them win the loser's bracket.
