ALLEN, Ky - Former Belfry head basketball coach Randy Casey is returning to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky as he has been named the new head coach at Wesley Christian School.
Wesley Christian is a small private school located in Allen, Kentucky with students ranging from Kindergarten all the way 12th grade. They have a prep basketball program that takes in foreign national hoopsters in hopes of bettering their life and leading them on to a college scholarship.
Casey has spent the last three seasons at Athens Prep Academy in Tennessee where his teams have finished 25-13, 27-6 and 26-12.
Prior to moving to Tennessee, Casey was an assistant coach for coach Kelly Wells at UPIKE, where the Bears went to two Elite 8's in his time there. They also won the most games in school history and had an undefeated season in Mid South Conference play.
He was head man of the Pirates from 2004-2013 where he picked up 176 wins during his time there and five district championships. Prior to being the head coach for the Pirates he was an assistant for 15 years and was a part of three regional titles.
Casey said he is excited about coming home and getting to coach at a great school while also being back around family and friends.
He replaces former Wesley Christian coach David Meddings who stepped down following last season.
Casey was a graduate of Matewan High School where he was a standout on the hardwood for the Tigers.
