NEW RICHMOND - Wyoming East's Sean Carter wasn't necessarily looking forward to continuing his football career at the next level.

The Warriors' recently graduated senior had, after all, only played two years of high school football.

When Concord University reached out recently with an offer to walk on, he knew he wanted to do just that.

"I didn't really expect to play any college, I only played two years," he said. "When I got the offer, I took it."

As a walk-on, he knows he faces long odds, but that plays right to his strength.

"I can't wait to get started, but patience is the key," Carter said. "I understand that it will take a while to get going, but I am super excited to be a Mountain Lion and I put all my faith in God. I've been doubted all through high school and I'm here to prove them wrong and use it as motivation."

He will play either tight end or defensive back at Concord.
