NEW RICHMOND -Doc Warner missed his team's sectional championship game back in May, when he suffered a stroke. He proved Wednesday that it is hard to keep a good man down.
The long-time Lady Warriors head coach was not about to miss the team's awards banquet, a tradition he and his wife Norma, the event's organizer, started several years ago.
"I'm feeling really good, a lot better than I was," Warner said as he made his rounds Wednesday prior to the opening of the event, highlighted by the enshrinement of the first class in the school's softball hall of fame. "I'm happy to be here, that's for sure."
The team was honored for a 21-win season that ended short of the school's third straight appearance in the state tournament.
All of 10 team members walked away with awards during the ceremony.
