The 20th annual Hatfield-McCoy Marathon once again drew thousands of people from across the U.S. and around the region into the Tug Valley area on Saturday. The event has grown over the years and boosts tourism for the area. The race includes the full 26.2 marathon, two half marathons, a kids race and a local 5-K race. The Hatfield McCoy Marathon was founded in 2000 and sponsored by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club. The inaugural race began with just 13 runners and now draws more than 1,000 every June. Hundreds of volunteers also flock to Williamson to help with the event making it the biggest event within the city and surrounding area every year.
