DELBARTON — The Burch High School Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, Sept. 2 at The Event Center in Delbarton, West Virginia.
Tickets for admission are $25.00 each. RSVP is required due to seating capacity.
“The Burch High School Athletic Hall of Fame has been established to assure that those who have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics by virtue of their athletic performance will be honored and accomplishments forever remembered,” the Hall of Fame stated in a press release.
Inductees for the first class include:
- Bill Belcher, Class of 1964; Basketball 1964 All Area Honorable Mention; Football 1963 All Area First Team.
- Allan (Laddie) Cozmyk, Class of 1965; Football 1964 All Area First Team; Football 1964 All Southern Honorable Mention; Football 1964 All State Honorable Mention; Burch High School Football scoring record with 139 points from 1964-1972.
- James (Jimbo) Martin, Class of 1965; Basketball 1965 All Area Third Team; Football 1964 All Area First Team; Football 1964 All State Third Team.
- Bill Duty, Class of 1951; Football 1950 All Area First Team; Football 1950 Leading scorer All Area with 80 points.

“These athletes were selected for their outstanding achievements,” the Hall of Fame said in a release. “We have purposely decided to choose those who are worthy, who are still with us, so they can enjoy the lasting benefits of their athletic accomplishments at Burch High School. Our historian, James Ferrell, has been diligently searching through the early years of the athletic programs and has presented these athletes to the committee from the beginning of Burch High School Athletics up and through the 1960’s.”
