The funeral of Cpl. Pete Conley, the Korean War soldier from Chapmanville whose remains were returned home Tuesday, was held at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville Friday afternoon. A military burial was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery after the funeral service.

The remains of Cpl. Pete Conley, a Chapmanville veteran who went missing in action in December 1950, were finally returned home to Chapmanville Tuesday night after seven decades. Conley's remains were brought home by a large police escort.

Following the a recognition ceremony on the steps of the Mingo County Courthouse, a Memorial Day parade was held in downtown Williamson on Monday, May 31.
