DELBARTON - The 23rd annual Delbarton Homecoming committee has released its schedule of events for Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

The homecoming begins Thursday, Aug. 30, with the Kiwanis Kids Fishing Tournament at Kiwanis Park from 6 to 8 p.m. There is no entry fee for the event.

On Friday, Aug. 31, there will be a Community Block Party next to the Opry House featuring Rick K and The Allnighters starting at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Other events on Friday will include the arts and crafts and food vendors set up next to the Opry House from noon until closing. There will also be a free roasted hog and brown bean dinner next to the Opry House from 5 to 6 p.m.

Also on Friday is the Talent Showcase next to the Opry House from 6 to 8 p.m. and a fireworks show over Town Square at approximately 10 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, the day starts with the Bill Smith Memorial 5K run/walk with registration at 7 a.m. at Town Square. The fun run starts at 8 a.m. with a fee of $20.

There will be arts and crafts and food vendors next to the Opry House starting at 8 a.m. until closing. There will be a car show next to the Opry House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $15 entry fee. Local talent will perform throughout the day.

A free Burch High School Alumni reception will be held at the Old Town Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Also, on Saturday, there will be a parade through town at 3 p.m. The lineup will be at the new town hall. There will be kids games near the Opry House from 4 to 6 p.m. A free Kids Race will start at 4 p.m. and at 4:30 p.m.

There will be a free fish fry dinner next to the Opry House from 5 to 6 p.m. After that, there will be a bluegrass sing from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.

There will also be a block party next to the Opry House at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night with the Marshall Lowry Band.

On the final day of the event, Sunday, Sept. 2, a free community feast will be held next to the Opry House from 6 to 7 p.m. That will be followed by a gospel sing starting at 7 p.m. and lasting to later that night.

Also, on Sunday, a free movie night for the kids will be held at the Old Town Hall at 7 p.m.
