I love this time of year because it feels fresh and exciting. I love the idea of setting goals for the year, but if I have something I want to do, I'm going to do it. No matter what time of year it is. However, I did set a few goals this year. Even though I reluctantly began a small journey the first of the year, I started out leisurely, maybe even half heartedly walking toward that goal-getting healthier by losing a few pounds.

There is just something about a plate full of comfort food to warm you up inside and out, especially with the cold and snowy weather among us. For me, nothing says comfort food more than macaroni and cheese. I've got so many different recipes for it, everyone in my family made it in their own special way, but this recipe I share with you is one that will have you going back for seconds or even thirds.

Most soup lovers like a steaming bowl of the nourishment on a cold winter's day/night, which makes it no wonder that January - an abundance of cold weather normally - is celebrated as National Soup Month. There is no recorded evidence that a presidential proclamation declared it as such, but many countries celebrate it as such.

When I first began my journey in the culinary world, I had no idea it would lead me here, catering and a restaurant. I was away from the only family I knew and I had two children and a husband that needed to eat each night. I studied bread making until I could make the most perfect pliable, soft dough with my eyes closed.

I wish I could make people trust in Jesus. I wish I could convince everyone that He is enough. Really and truly, no matter what they have going on in their life that the God of the Bible is real, alive and all-powerful! Pardon me while I take a minute to cry.

The New Year has begun, and while it is easy to get lulled into a post holidays, stay-at-the-house doldrums, there's plenty of great entertainment indoors and out if you've got a bit of cabin fever.

After seeing a few promos, I was pretty sure that FOX's new drama, "The Passage," was not for me. After all, blood-sucking vampires are really not my thing. But I have a rule. If Mark-Paul Gosselaar is in it, I will watch it - at least for one episode.

Movies & More reviewer John Gillispie shares his thoughts on the three PG-rated films - "Green Book," "Aquaman" and "Holmes & Watson" - he watched over the holiday break.

Well, I don't know about y'all, but we are still eating on leftover ham from the holidays.

I froze enough to feed an army, just working on what's left in the fridge making soups and casseroles. This is an easy muffin cup recipe that is perfect for using up some of that ham in the fridge. I've added in green onions, bacon and swapped the cheddar cheese for grated Swiss cheese.

Since the year 2000 Pantone, Inc has held yearly secret meetings in an undisclosed European city to choose a color of the year. Color experts from numerous nations come together under Pantone's leadership to choose this color to match the international cultural climate.

For years, the joke at our house has been "if you don't make New Year's resolutions, then I will make some for you".

I have lists for every day and usually have a running list in one of my pockets at any given time. I have bunches of lists in my phone, too. They help me stay on task and get done what I need to get done. I hate dropping the ball! (I could never play for Coach Cal!) Saying, "I forgot", or "I am so sorry, I was supposed to" kills me! Therefore, I make lists. So, if I have lists for every Sunday-Saturday, why wouldn't I make a super-duper list for the new year? Why, that sounds like a genius idea to me!

A mere dot on the United States map is about all that Logan County represents to most people, but the fact is that it is eerily uncanny how much history has been made in the confines of this Appalachian region that - as of the 2010 census - shows a population of just 37,743 residents. Additionally, the town/city of Logan in the same census shows only 1,779 people left in a place that once thrived because of the growth of the coal industry. Logan's history, however, well precedes the finding of "black gold" in the coalfields.

The dust has settled from the New Year's festivities, and ready or not we're starting 2019. Lucky for us, there's a good bit of good entertainment to be had to wash the winter gray away.
