E. Joe Clouser departed this life July 24, 2012, in a Richmond Hospital.

He was born in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., spent his teen years in West Virginia, and resided in Roanoke, Va., for 40 years where he was a member of First Baptist Church, the Shenandoah Club and Hidden Valley Country Club.

He and his wife moved to the Cedarfield retirement community in Richmond in 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond .

Mr. Clouser was a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Early in his service he was stationed at Arkansas State College where he studied Army Administration prior to serving in the European Theatre of Operations.

He joined American Electric Power Company in 1945, subsequently studied Utility Management at the University of Michigan and later returned to the University to study Advanced Management, retiring as an executive of American Electric Power Company after 44 years of service.

He leaves surviving him his beloved wife of 66 years Lila Lee Clouser; a daughter Carolyn Clouser and her husband Charles Sheehy of Richmond; a son Dr. J. Kenton Clouser, his wife Susan, and their son Brent Sykes, of Talbott, Tenn., and Stuart, Florida; a brother, John F. Pafford and his wife Geraldine of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; brother-in-law Lee Kinsey of Grayling, Mich., and sister-in-law Barbara Pafford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Kinsey; and a brother Robert L. Pafford both of Michigan.

There was a memorial service at the Hermitage at Cedarfield at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, with a reception following. There was a private interment at Hollywood Cemetery.
