Thomas Gary “Tommy” Horn, 60, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 23, at the Hospice of the Bluegrass Care Unit in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky.
Tommy was the son of the late Willie “Pappy” and Elsie (Williams) Horn of Taylorville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Horn of Frankfort, Ky.; two daughters, Deanna Kay Taylor and Melody Dawn Agosta both of South Point, Ohio; two sons, William Gary Horn of Memphis, Tenn., and Dwayne Scott Horn of Canton, N.C.; three sisters, Gloria Ann Evans of Varney, Billie Jean Roberts of Kitts Hill, Ohio, and Betty L. Farley of Versailles, Ky.; brother, Charles E. Carter of Varney; eight grandchildren, Jacob Horn, Shelby Horn, Meghan Horn, Justin Taylor, Noah Taylor, Kayleb Taylor, Vivian Agosta, Adrian Agosta; and a host of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Tommy grew up near Taylorsville and attended school in the Magnolia school district. Prior to relocating to the central Kentucky area in the early 90s, Tommy worked in the coal industry for various companies, including Mary Helen Coal Co. at Belfry, Ky., and Cumberland Village Mining Group at Matewan.
Tommy was a Christian. He enjoyed carpentry and remodeling in his later years both as a hobby and a means of self-accomplishment. He was always available to help family and friends, especially the elderly. Tommy was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A family gathering was held Saturday, August 25, in Tommy’s honor. Memorial donations may be made in Tommy’s name to the American Cancer Society.
