Kathleen D. Simpkins, 78, of Meador, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
A daughter of the late Lance and Sally Backus Hatfield, Kathleen D. Simpkins, was born May 20, 1934, in Mingo County.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Simpkins; brothers, William Lance, Kenneth and Benjamin Hatfield.
In addition to being a loving sister, friend, and neighbor, Kathleen was retired, having worked at Amercan Safety Seatbelt Company while she lived in Ohio. She also was a member of the Red Jacket Community Church for several years.
She leaves to honor her loving memory and mourn her passing brother Keith Hatfield of Eureka, Mo.; sisters Ruth Dean of Meador, Beatrice Kaye Dukes of Dexter, Mo.; and a host of nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Honoring services will be conducted Wednesday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at the Red Jacket Community Church of Red Jacket, with Pastor Paul Crow officiating. Burial will follow at the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery at Newtown. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends on Tuesday, March 5, at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
