Players from the two teams that played in the championship game, Lenore and Kermit, lead the Mingo County girl’s All-County basketball team.
The teams were selected by a vote of the head coaches from each of the counties six middle schools. The coaches were not able to vote for their own players.
Paeton Marcum, Tommie Mounts and Emily Colegrove represent Lenore on the all-county team.
Taylor Parsley, Santana Fitzpatrick and Kendra Spaulding are the first team members from Kermit.
Williamson had two players, Tyshira Joplin and Makazia Rhodes, made the squad.
Burch was represented by Shylah Goff and Caitlyn Curry.
Gilbert’s Teyona Cowan and Matewan’s Marka York were also voted to the first team by the coaches.
Several other players received votes and are on the honorable mention list. They include: Madison May and Savannah Wilson of Lenore; Sydney Whitt of Kermit; Bekah White, Mckinley Stogsdill and MaKenna Pinson of Williamson; Mackinsey Spencer and Bobbi Varney of Burch; Sarah Blevins and Allie Cline of Gilbert.
The six head girl’s coaches for the Mingo County middle school are Bobbie May of Lenore, Buddy Sartin of Kermit, Jeremy Davis of Burch, Julius “Boo” Hatcher of Williamson, Hester Keatley of Matewan and Darrell Taylor of Gilbert.
