Belfry, Pikeville and Shelby Valley High School’s academic teams were the big cash winners in UNITE Pike’s Annual ‘2 Smart 4 Drugs’ Academic Meet recently held at Pikeville University.
In overall final scores and the varsity quick recall rankings, Pikeville’s team took first place, Belfry second and Shelby Valley came in third. In the junior varsity quick recall contest, Pike Central finished first, Belfry second and Pikeville third. In the Junior Varsity written assessment competition, Belfry placed first, Pike Central took home second and Shelby Valley came away with third. Overall Junior Varsity results were: Belfry securing first place, with Pike Central and Pikeville taking second and third, respectively.
The meet was an independent competition where teams competed for cash prizes. All participants received at least $150.
The teams also had the opportunity to put on an impromptu skit using various props. The East Ridge Team was the first place winner in the skits category, Shelby Valley came in second and Pikeville finished third. First through Third place winners in each written assessment category were:

Science —first: Brady Spradlin, East Ridge; second, tie: Aaron Dorton, Shelby Valley and Cody Robinette, Belfry.
Social Studies — first: Matt Mills, Belfry; second: Mason Justice, Pike Central; third: Dalton Hatfield, Belfry.
Arts and Humanities — first: Noor Ali, Pikeville; second: Michael Gannt, Pikeville; third: Mason Justice, Pike Central.
