Ky. drug investigation ends in arrest

GARRETT, Ky. — On Wednesday, December 5, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 9 Criminal Interdiction Team traveled to the residence of Jason K. Chaffins in the Garrett community of Floyd County to follow up on drug information and execute arrest warrants on the subject.

Once inside the residence, troopers allegedly observed a variety of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Also located in the residence were multiple items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines and two handguns.

Chaffins, who is 27, was arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center on bench warrants along with additional charges of 1 count of manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, 2 counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, 1 count of possession of marijuana, 1 count of drug paraphernalia (buy/possess), 1 count of resisting arrest and 1 count of a controlled substance endangerment to a child; 4th degree.

The Post 9 Criminal Interdiction Team was assisted on scene by Sgt. Ronald Peppi, DE/SI East, TFC; Bo Cure /K-9 Special Operations, Trooper Brad Hamilton, Trooper Josh Brainard and Wayland Police Department Officer Brian Ratliff.

This incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Zack Bryson of the KSP Post 9 Criminal Interdiction Team.
