WILLIAMSON - In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, volunteers with the Jacob’s Well Mission have made it their goal to provide a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings, to residents from both sides of the Tug River who have found themselves down on their luck. With the decline of the local economy, the Mission is bracing for a large crowd to partake of the free meal.

Jeanette O’Brien, the President and Director of Jacob’s Well is extending an open invitation to everyone who would like to take advantage of a hot, home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner, and said they will begin serving the public at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 16th, and will wrap the event up somewhere in the vicinity of 4 p.m. The mission is located at 151 E. 3rd Ave. in Williamson, in the former Cantees Department Store location.

“We encourage anyone that would like to volunteer to assist with this event to give us a call and we’ll let you know what we need help with,” stated O’Brien. “Usually we have had several people commit to preparing side-dishes and desserts for the dinner, but so far this year, we haven’t heard from anyone.”

“We feel that it is God’s will and his intention that we help our fellow man, that we take time to stop and lend a hand to those who are less fortunate than ourselves, and this dinner is a great way to give to those in need.”

For more information on this event or to volunteer to assist with the dinner, you may contact O’Brien by calling either 304-236-5955 or 304-235-2730.

“Come out and be with us and we’ll serve you a delicious Thanksgiving dinner,” said the director. “Fellowship and friendship will certainly be enjoyed by all who attend.”
