The Mingo Central High School Choir, known respectively as The Central Singers,

will be headed to Charleston Saturday, November 10 to record selections from their

Christmas concert entitled “Christmas Around the World.” This will be the second year

for the First Lady’s Festival of Songs, held at the Cultural Center, and will also be the

groups second year performing. “What a privilege to be asked to perform as a brand

new school in last year’s program. But then to be asked to return this year has made

the students very proud of their hard work and dedication,” says choral director Sarah

McVaney. “I am so excited about the music we are performing this year and look

forward to sharing it not only with our local audience, but with audiences all over the

state.”

The performance will be recorded on November 10. It will air on local television on

Christmas morning. The students will also be performing three selections from their

program which can be seen in its entirety at Mingo Central High School’s Auditorium

on December 12. This concert is scheduled to include the Women’s Chorus as well as

the new show choir! A donation of a canned food or non-perishable food item is being

asked at the door.
