WILLIAMSON — Children of all ages are encouraged to attend Williamson Memorial Hospital’s (WMH) “Kid’s Day,” scheduled to take place this Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Williamson Field House.

The annual event is always a big hit with area youth who are treated to a variety of fun activities and delicious treats and goodies. This year’s Kid’s Day is predicted to be bigger and better than ever before.

According to event coordinator, April Mullins, all activities are free to the public. A health and safety fair is scheduled along with games, prizes, food and much more. Booths will be set up by WMH, as well as numerous other local businesses that are participating.

There will be face painting, a magic show, hair braiding, balloon animals, a DJ who will provide music for a dance, aerobics for kids, karate and kickboxing, bicycle safety, anti-bullying pledges - the list goes on and on.

Smokey the Bear is scheduled to make a special appearance to speak with the children about the importance of fire safety, and weather permitting, the Heath Net helicopter will be on site and those attending will have an opportunity to look inside and to also have a photograph taken. The Williamson Fire Department will be at the event, which is always a favorite of area youth.

Children are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes and a contest will be held with prizes for the different age groups and categories being awarded. Educational materials regarding hand washing and other germ-free tips will be available. Each child who attends Kid’s Day will receive a treat bag.

“Come out and join us to recognize and celebrate the children who live in the Tug Valley area,” said Mullins. “It’s going to be a great day!”
