Joe Dingess

Joe Curtis "Joey" Dingess, 31 of Slater's Branch, Ky. passed away Wednesday; September 22, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center following a lingering illness.

Born October 8, 1978 in Williamson, he was the son of Curtis and Betty Chaffins Dingess of Slater's Branch, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Joe and Vadie Chaffins.

Joey was a fireman with the Williamson Fire Department, and a member and former president of the Hatfield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 1997 graduate of Belfry High School and a member of the O'Brien Lodge #101 AF&AM, the Beni Kedem Shrine, the Charleston Scottish Rite, and the Tug Valley Shrine Club.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife Cindy Murphy Dingess of Slater's Branch, Ky.; his son Peyton Cole Dingess of the home; one sister Vada Dingess of Slater's Branch, Ky.; his paternal grandparents Curtis and Sarah Dingess of Chattaroy; his father and mother-in-law Johnny and Tammy Murphy of Beech Creek; a brother-in-law: Neal (Bambi) Murphy of Beech Creek; nephew: Joshua Sesco of Slater's Branch, Ky.; niece: Autumn Murphy of Beech Creek; very special friends: Sam and Dee Kapourales of Williamson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday; September 25, 2010 at 12 p.m. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky. with Charlie Dingess officiating. Burial, with masonic rites, will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Jo Ann Hurley

Jo Ann Hurley, 62 of Phelps, Ky., died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Jamboree Church of God at Phelps, Ky.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at the church at 1 p.m. with Revs. Marvin Casey and Bruce Hawkins. Burial will follow at the Whispering Hills Cemetery at Stopover, Ky.
