PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The August 2010 Pike County Grand Jury returned seven true bills against eight individuals as it convened earlier this week. All, except one, were theft-related charges.
Charges against Benjamin Johnson have been dismissed, according to Commonwealth's Attorney Rick Bartley, after the grand jury did not return a true bill against him.
A statement by the commonwealth attorney's office said, "The grand jury has not returned an indictment because the allegations and evidence are insufficient to return a felony indictment."
The indictments include:
William R. Maynard, 53, of Knob Fork Road, Pikeville; trafficking in marijuana over five pounds (Class C felony).
Lonnie J. "Weeder" Thacker Jr., 32, of Kendrick Fork, Pikeville; and Donald D. Saunders III, 29, of Raccoon, Ky.; second-degree criminal mischief (Class A misdemeanor), theft by unlawful taking (Class D felony); Thacker was indicted as a first-degree persistent felony offender (Class B felony); and Saunders was indicted as a second-degree persistent felony offender (Class C felony).
Todd Eric Ratliff, 27, of Jimmie's Creek Road, Regina; receiving stolen property (Class D felony), theft by deception (Class D felony), second-degree persistent felony offender (Class C felony).
