Pike Co. Grand Jury indicts seven

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A man has been indicted by the Pike County Grand Jury for breaking into a Kentucky Department of Highways garage and stealing equipment.

Charles D. Smith, 35, of Pikeville, is accused of third degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking in connection with the theft of a generator, a chain saw, a pole saw, a sawsall, a circular saw, a light set and a driver set. Smith is also charged with first degree persistent felony offender.

Jimmy Joe Hall, 26, of Grethel, was indicted for first degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property for the theft of a motorcycle, shotgun and rifle form Steve Combs.

Michael Owen Bartley, 29, of Rockhouse, was indicted for theft by unlawful taking of mining cable from Harold Akers, and second degree persistent felony offender.

Ortiz Santiago, 34, of Pikeville, was indicted for first degree assault for stabbing Luis Hermilo.

Patrick Yates, 29, of Shelbiana, was indicted for both class A and class D theft by deception in connection. Yates is accused of creating a false impression that goods were being purchased by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, but were in fact being obtained for personal use.

Rhonda G. Little, 34, of Virgie, was indicted for theft by deception for submitting false mileage reimbursement expenses to the Commonwealth of more than $500.

Frank Coleman, Jr., 30, of Pikeville, was indicted for first, second and third degree trafficking in a controlled substance, prescription drug not in a proper container and DUI.

An indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
