summer reading program. Every Wednesday the library will host a new activity for
children to keep up their interest in education and reading during their summer break.
"We just want to try to make reading fun and keep up their interest in reading while their home this summer," said Dee Kapourales, a reader in the library's program.
The library plans on holding other events with specific age groups of children in mind. A special book club will be held for second and third grade children and up and they will read "The Big Wave". In July, the library will also hold a tea party for girls.
The "Make a Splash" program also offers games, refreshments and incentive based reading. For every book a child reads during the summer, their name will be entered into a raffle drawing. The more books that are read, the better the chances of winning prizes.
Interested children and parents can come into the library at anytime to sign up for the program or attend one of the weekly meetings to sign up.
