Etta Mae Mounts, 84 and a resident of Freeburn, Ky., passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center in Phelps, Ky.

She was born March 5, 1926 in Pike County, Ky., the daughter of the late James and Naldie Edwards Stump.

She was also preceded in death by her husband: Virgil Mounts; son: Gary Dean Mounts; son-in-law: Larry Maynard; and a host of brothers and sisters.

She was formerly a cook at Freeburn Grade School, a homemaker and attended the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her children: Alice Mounts of Freeburn, Ky., Linda Gaye (Tilford) Adams of Cave Run, Ky., Delores Ann Maynard of Phelps, Ky., Deborah Kay (Dean) Hall of Granite Falls, N.C., Donna Sue (Herman) Dotson of Clay City, Ky., Letha Gayle (Danny) Mayhorn of Cave Run, Ky., Larry Gene (Angela) Mounts of Freeburn, Ky. and Michelle Stalker of Elkhorn City, Ky.; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Eunice Gooslin of Edgarton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Phelps, Ky. Revs. Benny Freeman, Johnny Fields, and Darius Casey. Burial will follow in the Mounts Family Cemetery at Barrenshee Creek, Freeburn, Ky.

Visitation services will be Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the chapel with services at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Phelps, Ky.
