She was born Dec. 16, 1925 at Varney, Ky., the daughter of the late Van and Mary Jane Runyon Maynard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ancil Adkins and three brothers, Rell, Fred and Raymond Maynard.
She was a retired cook from the Pike County Board of Education having worked at Turkey Creek Elementary School. She was also a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Adkins of Turkey Creek, Ky.; one son, Michael Adkins of Turkey Creek, Ky.; four grandchildren, Donovan Adkins, Mary Jane Morgan and Kathy Hatfield all of Turkey Creek, Ky. and David Hurley of Middlesboro, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Brendan and John Morgan, Abigail Hatfield and Elizabeth Adkins all of Turkey Creek, Ky., Colby and Daniel Hurley of Middlesboro, Ky. and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Swafford officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home Chapel with special services at 7 p.m.
