Pikeville native Lauren Lawson signed on Thursday, while Maysville product Anne Klee signed a scholarship agreement on Wednesday afternoon.
Lawson, a 5-4 guard, averaged 11.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Lady Panthers of Coach Cindy Stuart this season. In addition she averaged 2.2 assists per game and hit 63 percent from the free throw line.
“Lauren is a solid athlete who has a lot of potential,” said Coach Bill Watson. “We think her athleticism can help us and will open a lot of opportunities for her as her college career develops.”
Klee, a 5-11 post, averaged 8.6 points and 9.3 rebounds as a senior at St. Patrick High School. As a junior, she tossed in 12.3 points and grabbed 12 rebounds per contest for the Lady Saints. Klee is an outstanding student who has completed 50 hours of credit at Maysville Community and Technical College and anticipates graduating with an Associate’s Degree in August before enrolling at Pikeville.
“Anne is a very unselfish player who is a very good passer from the post,” said Watson. “She will bring a lot of talent to the team and we’re excited about adding her to our roster and to the Pikeville College family.”
Pikeville College finished the 2009-10 season 17-14 and advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference tournament in March.
