Man enters guilty plea, is sentenced

WILLIAMSON – A 56-year-old local man, James Hosley, pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge Thursday in Mingo County Circuit Court and was sentenced to serve one to five years in a state correctional facility.

Hosley, who was represented by Attorney Susan Van Zant, was remanded to the Southwestern Regional Jail pending assignment of a facility in which to begin serving his sentenced.

He pleaded guilty Thursday to the offense of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver. This was one of three couns of his January 2010 Grand Jury indictment.’

In the court proceeding, Chief Judge Michael Thornsbury gave the defendant credit for time already served while awaiting trial; was assessed standard court fees and costs, but was denied alternative senencing and probation.

Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney C. Michael Sparks represented the state in the proceeding.
