Dempsey out on amended bond

After waiving his rights to a preliminary hearing, Johnny Ray Dempsey’s cash only bond was amended from a $100,000 cash only to a property bond. Dempsey has since been released on jail, making bond on Feb. 19, 2010.

Johnny Ray Dempsey case will now be bound over to Mingo County Circuit Court.

The former pastor, teacher and coach was arrested on Friday, Jan. 22, by Mingo County Sheriff”s deputies for inappropriate contact with his 14-year-old juvenile daughter in June 2009, according to public records.

At the time of the crime, Dempsey was a teacher at Kermit K-8 and Tug Valley High School and a pastor at Grace Truth Bible Center, located at Boy Scout Hollow.
