INEZ, Ky.– Seven persons were arrested by officers of the Martin County Sheriff’s Department on Feb.23-24 on drug-related charges, public intoxication, resisting arrest and other violations listed in bench warrants.
Sheriff’s Deputy Evan M. Norris stated he had gone to the Lovely Fast Lanes on Ky 292 the evening of Feb. 23 to investigate a report of a woman operating a white Cavalier while under he influence.
He wound up making four arrests, including that of Amanda L. Nelson, 21, of Beauty, Ky., who was charged with public intoxication while using a controlled substance, excluding alcohol. Norris said when he came on the scene, he found two males snorting pills in the back seat of her car.
Jimmy R. Reed, 25, of Beauty, Ky., was arrested at 11:37 p.m. on charges of tampering with physical evidence when he tried to crush a pill in the floor board of the car; having a prescription controlled substance not in proper container, and violation of the Drug Paraphernalia Law, buy, possess. The latter two charges were first offenses.
#Tommy Reed, 38, also of Beauty, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication from a controlled substance, excluding alcohol. He told the officer he had been taking hydrocodone. A fourth person in the group, Sara A. Bevins, 27, of Lovely, was charged with public intoxication from a controlled substance, excluding alcohol.
Norris’ report stated that all four people appeared to be manifestly under the influence of drugs.
Also arrested on Feb. 23 at 5:43 p.m. was Diana L. Addington, 25, of Louisa, Ky. Chief Deputy Bryan Tipton executed three bench warrants on court cases but had no information on the cases. The warrants charged her with theft by deception (including cold checks under $500); theft by unlawful taking or disposal, and criminal possession of a forged instrument, second degree.
Jonann L. McKinley, also known as Jonann Messer, 27, of Lovely, Ky., was served with two drug court confidential bench warrants for drug court, and also four bench warrants on Feb. 24. Three of the latter warrants were for public intoxication from a controlled substance, excluding alcohol, and a fourth warrant was for assault, fourth degree (with no visible injury).
Jared Blair, 25, of Pikeville, Ky., was arrested by Deputy Norris at 12:07 a.m. on Feb. 24 during the officer’s visit to Lovely Fast Lanes to investigate an incident. Norris’ report said he noticed Blair was very nervous and asked him to step outside the store to talk with officers. Blair began running and Norris caught him at the gas pump.
Blair was charged with public intoxication on a controlled substance, excluding alcohol; fleeing or evading police on foot, second degree; disorderly conduct, second degree, and resisting arrest.
