The Gilbert Lady Lions finished off their regular season with a win against Big Creek Lady Owls Friday and a win against the Matewan Lady Tigers at home Saturday.

Gilbert 69, Big Creek 24

WELCH - Crystal Lester scored the game high of 15 points for the Lady Lions in Friday’s game. Keasha Browning and Danielle Butcher each scored 11 points, Chrissy Farmer scored 9, Kalenia Ellis had 8 points, Shawna Browning had 6, Brianna New scored 4, Brittani Kirk and Brittany Colegrove each scored 2 points, and Danielle Browning got on the board with 1 point.

The Lady Lions sank 14 two-pointers and a dozen three-pointers against Big Creek.

Scoring for Big Creek was: Marisa Johnson and Brittany Coeburn each with 8 points and Kellie Porter, Jennifer Hawkins, Amber Tiller, and Carrie Meadows each scored 2 points.

Matewan 30, Gilbert 45

Keasha Browning scored the game high Saturday with 11 points, Brittany Colegrove had 8, Kalenia Ellis scored 7, Danielle Butcher netted 5, Shawna Browning scored 4 points, and Catherine Browning, Danielle Browning,Brittani Kirk, Crystal Lester, and Brianna New each scored 2 points for the Lady Lions.

During the game with the Lady Tigers, Gilbert’s Crystal Lester grabbed her 1,000th career rebound.

Tiffany Lester led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 8 points, Rachel Clark scored 7 points, Whitney Horton had 6 points, Katie Blankenship scored 4, Jenna Bandy had 3 points, and Courtney Lester scored 2.

Matewan played Williamson in the Sectional Tournament at Man Feb. 22.

The wins finished off Gilbert’s regular season play with a record of 14-6. The Lady Lions closed out the season with seven straight wins and earned a bye in the Sectional Tournament at Man.

The Lady Lions played the winner of the Williamson-Matewan game in sectional play Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Man.
