It is interesting to note that each day our Senate convenes, we open each session with a prayer.

A preacher who had offered prayer at the beginning of the session and I discussed Israel and how Christians should unite for the people of Israel.

He was kind enough to refer me to several scriptures in the Bible that command us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalms 122:6), to speak out for Zion’s sake (Isaiah 62:1), to be watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6) and to bless the Jewish people (Genesis 12:3).

These are just a few Bibical verses that have one overriding message and that is, as Christians, we have a Biblical obligation to defend Israel and the Jewish people in their time of need.

As we watch world events unfold, it is clear that Israel’s time of need is now. There is a new Hitler in the Middle East, which is none other than President Ahmadinejad of Iran. This mad-man has threatened to wipe out Israel and America and is rapidly acquiring the nuclear technology to make good on his threat.

Hopefully, we have learned from the World War II Holocaust that when a mad-man threatens genocide, we must take him seriously.

You will recall that history teaches us that during the Holocaust, many Christians were too silent. Hhistory also teaches and we were left to mourn over the slaughter of six million Jewish people including men, women, and children.

If you haven’t seen the movie Schindler’s List, please rent this movie. It is unbelievable what occurred during World War II at Hitler’s hands to millions and this movie let’s us witness it as if we were there.

It’s powerful and all should see this movie. You will not be silent when you see this mad -man who says Israel and the United States are Satan. Those who do not learn from history are subject to repeat it for sure.

I suggest that Bible believing Christians must speak up and stand up for Israel more than ever, especially today.

We must act to do whatever we can to protect Israel’s six million Jewish people from this insane leader, Ahmadinejad. Our faith demands it and the times require it.

Silence is not an option.
