GOODY, Ky. – After losing two straight to Shelby Valley and Sheldon Clark, Belfry started off a four-game homestand with a win over the Williamson Wolfpack Tuesday, 70-42.
“I’m proud of our effort out there tonight,” said Pirates Head Coach Randy Casey. “Jordan Hairston played well tonight and Joey Pinson was exceptional.”
Belfry’s Jeremy Maynard was the leader in scoring in the game with 20 points for the Pirates. Thomas Varney scored 17 points, Joey Pinson scored 14 points and grabbed 8 boards, Gary Runyon had 12 points, Jordan Hairston scored 3 points and had 8 assists, and Morgan Bently and Tony Messer each had 2 points.
Belfry shot 28 of 61 from the floor including 5 of 15 from three-point range. The Pirates also racked up 30 rebounds and turned the ball over 14 times.
Chuckie White scored the most points for the Wolfpack with 13 points. Chris Hatcher scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, Nick Lee scored 9, Jarrid McCormick had 6 points, Austin Banks scored 3 points, and Shane Runyon got on the board with 1 point.
The Wolfpack shot 14 of 45 from the floor, out-rebounded with 36 rebounds, but turned the ball over 25 times.
Belfry (11-7) will play Allen Central (6-14) Friday and Tug Valley (9-3) Saturday in a rematch of the two teams’ season opener.
Williamson (4-11) looks to take on Gilbert (8-6) Thursday .
