Josephine Auxier

Josephine Auxier, 83, of Williamson, formerly of Matewan, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.

She was born in Sprigg, July 18, 1926, a daughter of the late George Womack and the late Belle Smith Miller. In addition to her parents, Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, William Buster Auxier; son, Roger Lee Auxier; brothers, Damon and Marvin Miller; sisters, Elizabeth White, Anna Harper and Eva Dearfield.

Josephine worked for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources for many years. Josephine’s involvement with various organizations included the Women’s Moose, Degree of Pochantas where she served as past Pochantas of the state, Josephine was also past president of the Mingo County Democratic Women’s Club, other involvements and memberships included the Rebecca’s and also the Silver Haired Legislator’s Alumni.

She is surivived by sons, George “Pug” (Ellen) Auxier of Louisville, Ky., and Michael “Mike” Auxier of Lorraine, Ohio; six grandchildren, Mark Rutherford; Larry Bruce; Auxier; Michael Auxier II; Christy Auxier; Rebecca Auxier; and William Thomas Auxier; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with Bro. David Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will begin receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pamela Fields

Pamela Browning Fields, 57, of Delbarton, formerly of Verner, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.

She was born in Iaeger, March 26, 1952, a daughter of Troy and Lorene Nester Browning Jr.

She was a disabled beautician and the owner and operator of Pam’s Beauty Shop. She attended the Verner Community Church and the Matewan United Methodist Church.

Pamela was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to fish, sing and attend church. She had a warm and friendly smile and a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by all who knew an loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Nugent; and a brother, Phillip Browning.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, D. Roger Fields; her wonderful daughter, Sandie Dennie of Morgantown, S.C., and her fiancé Waymon “Bubba” Hall; her precious granddaughter, Savannah Richards of Morgantown; her very special sister, Christie Conley of Crown-Amherstdale; her very special brother-in-law, Rocky Conley of Amherstdale; two sisters-in-law, Athaleane Lucarella of Long Island, N.Y., and Thelma Browning of Columbus, Ohio; her niece, Denise Browning of Wharncliffe; her nephew, Troy Anthony Browning of Lansing, Mich.; three great-nieces, Erica, Olivia and MaKenzie; one great-nephew, Dylan; a very special friend and companion, her cat Sheba; and a host of very special nieces and nephews and other dear family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Verner Community Church with the Rev. Rodney Robinette and Pastors Walter Grimmett and Ron Acord and Michael Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery, Verner.

Pallbearers will be Roland Martin, Eddie and Everett Fields, Clyde Pruitt, Michael Browning, Troy Anthony Browning and Aaron Plumley.

Friends may gather at the Verner Community Church on Monday after p.m. with a special service at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert.

Katherine West

Katherine P. West, 81, of Hanover, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Born at Welch on September 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Bessie Riffe Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating.

Burial will follow at Iaeger Memorial Gardens at Roderfield.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  with service at 7 p.m.

Willard Young

Willard Paul Young, 78, passed away at his home in Williamson on Feb. 6, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born in Williamson, May 5, 1931, the son of Willard Landon and Mary Ann Scalf Young who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Young, and his uncle, Ben Scalf who raised him after the death of his parents.

     Paul was a veteran of the Korean War with the U.S. Army.  He was a talented musician who loved big band music.  He played with several local bands and once had the plesure of jamming with the great Louis Armstrong.  He also played with the military band while in the Army.

     Paul is survived by his wife, Maxine Young; one daughter and four sons and their children; Melody Sue Young (Ronnie Donahue) and Jeff and Star; Ben (Martha) Young and Tim and Joe; Paul (Darlene) Young Jr. and Jason, Brittany and Chris; Jimmy (Tillie) Young and Matthew, Garnet and Ally and Barry Young.  He is also survived by his brother James Douglas Young  and five great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Rick Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers.  Belfry Chapter #141 DAV will have military graveside services. 

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m., Monday, at the Funeral Home.  

In lieu of Flowers, the family has requested that you please do something nice for a neighbor and tell them “This is for Paul.”
