Irene Ratliff, 87, of Chattaroy, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born December 10, 1922, at Hardy, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Maynard Stollings and Stella Jane Dotson Stollings.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ratliff; a son, James Ratliff, Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Coleman; four brothers, Cecil, Ed, Walker and Clifford Stollings; and a sister, Jean Wiedel.
Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
Irene is survived by two daughters, Deborah Thacker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Janie Woods of Chattaroy; one sister, Jerri Bowen of Lexington, Ky.; six grandchildren, Daniel K. Woods
and Christen Woods both of Chattaroy, Jamie Ratliff of Belfry, Ky., Darrell J. Coleman, II, of McAndrews, Ky., Rebecca Arnold and Cindy Chadwick, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; six great-great grandchildren; and two very special friends and neighbors, Carole Steele and Irene Estepp, both of Chattaroy.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Weaver Mortuary. The Reverend Chris Blevin officiated. Burial followed at the Ratliff-Steele Cemetery, Chattaroy. Grandsons along with two nephews, Michael Ross Thacker and Keith Thacker will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Sam Steele, James Stollings, Mike Anderson, Rodney Scott, Louie Olive, Tom Dibble, Woody Hampton and Michael Thacker.
The family received friends on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 pm, at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contribution be made to the American Cancer Society, 611 7th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701.
