Velva McCoy Hall, 86, of Day Star Road, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.

Born Dec. 24, 1923, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Kennis and Nancy Hall McCoy.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Willie Hall; an infant son, Vernal; an infant daughter, Dottie; brothers, Delman (Ollie May) McCoy and Roscoe (Lee) McCoy; sisters, Arbutus Curry, Aloma (Don) Runyon, Cleo (Tennie) Hall and Junie McCoy; and a great-grandson, James Ryan Johnson.

Mrs. Hall was a member of the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church for many years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and working making ceramics and porcelain dolls.

She will be sadly missed by her son, William Buddy (Linda) Hall; daughter, Velnetta Manns; grandchildren, Joey Hall, Brandon (Stacie) Hall, Michael Manns, Denise (Jim) Lalime, Kim (Michael Shawn) Waller; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kaleb, Somer, Callie, Braxton and Emma; a special nephew, Marty Manns; brothers, Harvey (Phyllis) McCoy and Forest (Ada) McCoy; sisters, Hester Manns, Loretta (Gilbert) Lewis and Dottie Brewer; bother-in-law, Billy Joe Curry; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church with Elders Eddie Layne and Ransom Chafin officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Family Cemetery at Day Star Road.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the church, with services at 7 p.m.
