Ruby Jean Dotson, 79, of Majestic, Ky., was carried in the loving arms of angels to her heavenly home on Friday, January 29, 2010, to reunite with family and friends who had gone before.

She died at the St. Joseph’s Hospital of Lexington, Ky., following a lengthy illness.

Ruby was born August 25, 1930 at Majestic, Ky., to the late Early Willis and Olia Dotson Willis.

In addition to her parents, those that preceded her death are her husband of 43 years Lloyd Hilman Dotson; a grandson, Nathan Dotson; two brothers, Edward Willis and Irvin Willis; and a sister Denise Hurley.

Ruby was a retired cook from the Pike County Board of Education having worked at Majestic, Ky Grade School for numerous years.

Ruby’s duties went far beyond a homemaker her love and kindness was a light that will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Ruby was a veteran of the army of the Lord having served as a member of the Shepherd Memorial Presbyterian Church of Stopover, Ky., and she also served the church as a secretary for several years.She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Freeburn, Ky., where she had served as worthy matron.

Those surviving Ruby were her sons Hilman (Roberta) Dotson Jr., and Jimmy Anderson Dotson, both of Majestic, Ky.; daughters Betty (Randy) Banks of Nicholasville, Ky., and Kathy (Raymond) Sanson of Majestic, Ky.; brothers James Dotson of Mich., and Archie Dotson of Morehead, Ky.; sisters Beulah Johnson of Forest Hills, Ky., Bernice (Danny) Hurley of Cynthiana, Ky., and Ella (Larry) Farrington of Baltimore, Ohio; seven grandchildren whom she cherished, Ruby Ann (Chris) Bowling of Elkhorn City, Ky., Jeffrey Hilman Dotson of Majestic, Ky., Justin Hilman (Elizabeth) Banks and Eric Tyler Banks both of Nicholasville, Ky., Jason (Tiffany) Sanson of Phelps, Ky., Joshua Anderson Dotson and Shannon Starr both of Louisa, Ky., eight great grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Banks, Cameron and Braden Sanson, and Brooklyn, Alexandra, and Madison Howard.

Ruby is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to Ruby’s loving family and friends, she is also survived by her family whom she held dear to her heart, the staff; patients; and families of patients from Davita Dialysis of South Williamson, Ky.

Honoring services will be Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 12 p.m.at Shepherd Memorial Presbyterian Church of Stopover, Ky., with Revs. Steve Mayhorn and Harold Layne officiating. Burial will follow at the Buddy Mounts Cemetery of Majestic, Ky., where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will begin receiving friends on Sunday, January 31 2010, at the church, after 6p.m., visitation will also be held on Monday, February 1, 2010, with services nightly at 7p.m
