Carolyn Jeanne Pinson of Dandrige, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital from complications of a brief battle with cancer.

Jeanne was born in Lexington, Ky., Aug. 21, 1947 to Reverend Kenneth A. Clay and Mrs. Beulah Bradley Clay Plummer.

She was a graduate of Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Ky. She married Conrad Pinson, Jr. June 5, 1982 and they resided in Williamson, W.Va. She and her husband relocated to Dandridge, Tenn., near Douglas Lake where they enjoyed their retirement by relaxing with family and friends, fishing, and boating. Jeanne took pride in being a homemaker, but also worked as an interior designer and as a partner in her husband’s drilling business.

Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Conrad Pinson, Jr.; children: Kelly L. Singleton (Steve), Bill Turner (Melissa), David L. Pinson, Clay Turner (Katharine), Joseph B. Pinson (Sandy); grandchildren, Brian Pinson, Jr., Joseph Pinson Jr., and Alexander M. Turner; and niece, Katie Clay; and nephew, Mark Clay.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim Clay, and son, Brian Keith Pinson.

A memorial service will be held in her honor in the chapel of Cokesbury United Methodist Church (Cokesbury Center) located at 9915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tenn. (directly across the street from the main sanctuary on Kingston Pike) Friday, Jan. 22. Friends will be received during this service between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., followed by a private service for the family at 7:30 p.m. Her ashes will be interned in the family cemetery during the spring of 2010 in Buskirk, Ky.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mercy Foundation, 1001 Blount Ave., Suite 530, Knoxville, Tenn., 37920 and note “Carolyn Jeanne Pinson” in the memo section of your contribution.

Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Jefferson City, Tenn.
