“We started well, but then got a little lazy and made several of what I call “crazy lazy” fouls and got in some foul trouble in the 2nd quarter,” said Tug Valley Coach Okey Smith. “We came out the second half and applied some pressure and built a little lead and then held on in the fourth quarter for the win.”
“We will have to play better if we expect to compete with the teams in our sectional,” continued Smith.
Tabby Mounts scored 16 points for the Lady Panthers along with grabbing 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Elizabeth Evans scored 11 points with 5 steals, and Desrae Vance scored 10. Other scorers for Tug Valley were: Whitney Evans with 9 points and 4 rebounds; Courtney Southers with 4 points and 4 rebounds; Hailee Ward had 3 points; and Paige Runyon scored 2 points with 4 rebounds.
Scoring for Sherman was: Madison Bowman with 16 points, Megan Williams scored 13 points, Jessica Hudson had 8 points, Crystal Halstead scored 5 points, and Hallie Jarrell had 1 point.
The Lady Panther’s next game will be against Chapmanville at home Thursday, Jan. 21. Tug Valley will then play Man in an away game Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m.
