Pike County Sheriff Charles Keesee (kee-SEE’) told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the dog was found Dec. 1 on property just north of Pikeville. The Humane Society says the dog was howling in pain with his fur burned off and his collar melted to his skin.
The dog is a 1- to 2-year-old small terrier mix, now named Miracle, and the newspaper reports he’s staying in a foster home in Louisville.
The Humane Society’s Kentucky director, Pamela Rogers, detailed Miracle’s injuries and told the newspaper the organization offers rewards in ‘especially heinous’ cases to help law enforcement.
