Schools in the area have different schedules for closings for the observance of Christmas and New Year’s.

• Mingo County schools will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 to Jan. 4, 2010.

• Offices in Mingo County Court House, the Memorial Building — Magistrate Court, Mingo County Health Department will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25, as well as Saturday and Sunday.

• Banks, City Hall and other public agencies to be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day.

• Williamson post of-fice will be closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day with no mail service such as pickups or deliveries.

• Postmaster John Mas-ters said the volume of packages mailed this year was up but regular mail activity was down.

• Police and Fire Departments in area will have crews on duty around the clock throughout the double holiday period. Emergency personnel also will be on duty around the clock.

• The Williamson Daily News will deliver regular editions.
