FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Steve Beshear has signed an executive order to invoke Kentucky’s price-gouging law to protect victims of last weekend’s winter storm from paying more than necessary for fuel, building supplies and lodging.

Beshear said he took the action to protect Kentuckians from predatory pricing as the state recovers from the snow storm that knocked out electricity to much of eastern Kentucky.

The price-gouging law also was triggered last winter after the devastating ice storm that left most of Kentucky without electricity.
