Sidney L. Thompson, 90, of Lenore, W.Va., passed away Dec. 7, 2009 at his home. He was born April 15, 1919 at Williamson, W.Va., the son of the late Earl and Betty Thompson. He has gone to reunite with his beloved wife of 65 years Adie Virginia Thompson, who departed this life a short time ago on Oct. 15, 2009. He was also preceded in death by two sons, James L. and Rodney D. Thompson; brothers Gus, Ray and Marlin Thompson and Paul Jones; sister, Monnie and Bonnie Thompson (Twins), Adenna Podolisky, and Gracie Thompson.

Sid was a retired coal miner having worked for Island Creek Coal Corp. for 25 years. He also was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a longtime member of the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. He was also a Mason.

His survivors include daughter Tammie J. (For-est) Adkins of Branchland, W.Va.; sister, Lois Jean Maynard of Laurel Creek, W.Va.; grandchildren Israel (Kimberly) Thompson, Na-nette (Wondel) Wiley, Jam-ie (Beth) Thompson, Tim-othy Adkins, Andrew Ad-kins, and Jason Thompson; seven great-grandchildren and special friends Leona and Johnny Bailey.

Funeral services will be held at the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church Thursday Dec. 10, 2009 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Mike Smith Officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va. Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Visitation will be at the Church after 6 p.m., with special services starting at 7 p.m.
