A routine traffic stop Friday evening resulted in a drug bust and the arrest of a former Belfry High School homecoming queen.

According to Investigating officer B.R. Moore, Dana Lou Hall, 27, of Williamson, had been under investigation for the last month by the Williamson Police Department and the West Virginia State Police. Numerous citizens told officers Hall was selling OxyContin and traveling to Florida to obtain the prescriptions from various doctors.

During the course of their investigation, Moore said they discovered Hall was traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., monthly to get the prescriptions on which she was making approximately $12,000 in profit.

During the traffic stop, police confiscated 285 30 milligram Oxycontin, 125 15 milligram Oxycontin, 50 2 milligram Za-nax, and 119 Somas, having a street value of just over $11,000.

Hall was charged with two counts of delivery, two counts of possession with intent to deliver and two counts of trafficking in and out of the state.

Hall was arraigned by Mingo County Magistrate Dee Side-bottom where bond was set at $600,000. She was transported to Southwestern Regional Jail, where she remained as of press-time.

Moore stated that this is one arrest in an investigation the police are conducting and they expect to make several more.

Williamson Police Depar-tment Cpl. C.D. Rockel is assisting in the investigations.

Why did you find it necessary to identify her as a former BHS homecoming queen? If she won the crown at 18, this would have happened 9 years ago, that is hardly worth mentioning. Or course, no Williamson graduates have ever been arrested or broken any laws.

She is another victim of OxyContin--legal heroin and the policies of drug dealing doctors in Florida. If you arrive with money and a story you will be able to leave with Oxy.

Some seem to feel that dealing in prescription drugs is not as bad as dealing in heroin or other illegal drugs but this is untrue. Oxy leads to addictions and deaths.
