Mary Evans

Mary Alice Evans, 88, of Lenore, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2009, at the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Facility in South Williamson, Ky.

Born Oct. 3, 1921, at Baisdentown, she was the daughter of the late Dock Gillman and Betty Joe Baisden Gillman.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Evans; and a dear son, Ersel “Bud” Evans; and three brothers, Ersel, Armel and Carmel Baisden.

Mary loved and greatly enjoyed the art of homemaking. She was a gifted crochet artist, having made each child a beautiful heirloom afghan to cherish and pass down to future generations. She liked to can vegetables and she liked to sew. Mary enjoyed anything that involved homemaking and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed always.

Mary was a member of the Baisdentown Church of God.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Chafin of Lenore; a son, Mike (Tracey) Evans of Lenore; six grandchildren, Mark Chafin, Kimberly Stacy, Robert “Jerry” Taylor, Eloy “Dock” Evans, Pamela Evans, Ersel Edwin Evans and 11 great grandchildren.

The family received friends on Monday evening, November 30, 2009, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The Rev. Terry Blankenship conducted a special service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services were held Dec. 1, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. Clyde Miller officiated. Burial followed at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson served the Evans family.

Helen Lenard

Helen Lenard, 78 of Williamson, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at her residence.

She was born March 10, 1931 in Sprigg to the late Crockett and Vina Bently McNeely.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dellie C. Lenard; one daughter, Jeannie Lenard; one son, Larry “Joey” Lenard; one brother, John Gent; and two sisters: Faye Millirones and Ruby Millirones.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Chattaroy.

Her survivors include her sons: Kenneth Lenard of Chattaroy and Thomas Russell Lenard of Williamson; her daughters: Brenda Webb of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Melody Guarine of Vero Beach, Fla.; and her sisters: Janice Shannon of New Albany, Ohio and Sylvia Smith of Chesapeake, Ohio. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, six nieces and eight nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel in Toler, Ky. with Elder Larry Cope officiating.

Visitation services will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the funeral home.

Francis Murphy

Francis Murphy, 80 of Delbarton, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at her residence.

She was born Sept. 14, 1929 at Delbarton to the late Parker and Melissa Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son: Albert Murphy, Jr., brothers: Mathias, Rayburn, Willis, and Harrison Evans; sisters: Becky Powers, Faye Grimmett, Pearl Gibson, and Mark Hall.

Mrs. Murphy was a christian and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Albert Murphy, sons: Woodrow (Nancy), David (Patricia), Marion (Janie), Edwin (Amy), Kenneth, and Dennis Murphy of Delbarton, Damon (Bobbie Jo) Murphy of Logan, Timmothy (Shirley) Murphy of Naugatuck; daughters: Dinah (Bill) Maynard of Lenore, Arlene (David) Runyon of Georgia, Teressa (Ryan) Dotson of Winchester, Ky., Connie Francis (Benny) Moore of Delbarton; sisters: Gaynell Kirk of Milton and Nancy Blankenship; 35 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Chafin Funeral Services in Delbarton Monday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. with Jimmy Copley officiating. Burial will follow at the Murphy Family Cemetery in Delbarton.

Visitation will be at Chafin Funeral Home Sunday, Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.

Laurine Reed

Laurine Reed, 87 of Toler, Ky., went to be with the Lord Friday Dec. 4, 2009.

She was born July 20, 1922 at Ransom, Ky. She was a daughter of the late Charles Evan and Virginia Gardner Alley Whitt. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband: Earl M. Reed, a son: Donald Lee Reed, great grandson: David Brody Dotson, two brothers: Eddie and Marshall Whitt; and two sisters: Joyce Compton and Delilah Whitt.

She was a member of the Williamson Area Church of Christ and a Christian for nearly 75 years.

She is survived by her sons: David E. (Linda) Reed of Hardy, Ky., Charles (Karen) Reed of Turkey Creek, Ky., Tim (Glenna) Reed of Vero Beach, Fla., and Winfred Reed of Toler, Ky.; one daughter: Lois (Boe) Pitts of Toler, Ky., sister: Drema (Claude) Kinder of Foster; brothers: Audley (Donna) Whitt of Anna, Ohio, Dale Whitt of San Mateo, Calif., Ben (Elaine) Whitt of Proctorville, Ohio, Arnold (Mary) Whitt of Forest Hills, Ky., and Paul (Dottie) Whitt of Hardy, Ky.; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and much loved and appreciated Neighbors and Friends.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Williamson Area Church of Christ with special services at 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday Dec. 7 at the Williamson Area Church of Christ with Donnie Estepp officiating. Burial will follow at Reed Cemetery at Sidney, Ky., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Donald Stanley

Donald Lee Stanley, 64 of Turkey Creek, Ky., passed away Saturday Dec. 5, 2009 at Logan Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 2, 1945 at Goody, Ky. to the late Clyde and Ada Stanley.

He was a retired warehouse laborer for Heilig-Meyers and a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran of the Army and Navy.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Stanley, one son; Steven Douglas Stanley of Williamson, step daughter; Haven Hatfield of Turkey Creek, Ky., two brothers; James (Yvonne) Stanley of Turkey Creek, Ky., and Willard Stanley of Columbus, Ohio, three sisters; Glendline Dye of Aflex, Ky., Veraldine (Fred) Pinson of Bethleham, Ky., and Ernestine Stanley of Bethleham, Ky., and two grandchildren; Austin Salmons of Turkey Creek, Ky. and Justin Smith of Turkey Creek, Ky.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Appalachian Plaza.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Appalachian Plaza with Jay Marcum and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
