A man accused of shooting a transformer at Tug Valley High School went before Mingo County Magistrate Pam Newsome Wednesday morning.

Brandon Urban, of Lenore, was arrested for allegedly conspiring to shoot an Appalachian Electric Power (AEP) transformer with a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun Oct. 4, 2009.

The criminal complaint stated that Urban shot the transformer approximately 10 times causing around $3,800 in damage.

Urban was charged with destruction of property and conspiracy. However the prosecutor and investigating officer dismissed those charges. Urban was recharged with destruction or property only, and was forced to pay a $5 fine along with $184.50 in court costs. He was also required to pay $1,951.57 in restitution.
