Two men allegedly involved in the abduction and sexual assault of a Williamson man waived their rights to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before Mingo County Magistrate Pam Newsome.
Jerry Fields, 21, of Williamson, and Jimmy Hatfield, 25, of Rawl, were arrested by Williamson Police Department after the 21-year-old victim had to be transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.
According the criminal complaint, the defendants had intent to maliciously maim, disfigure and disable the victim, by tying his up with extension cords around his genitals causing bruising and swelling. The men then repeatedly kicked the victim in the head.
The report further explains that Fields continued to sexually abuse the victim rubbing his genital area across the victim’s face, while he was unconscious, and unable to leave at will.
During the incident Jimmy Hatfield aided Fields during the malicious wounding and sexual assault as well as video taping and taking pictures of the incident.
According to Williamson Police Chief Roby Pope, a relative happened to show up at the apartment where the events were taking place and transported the victim to Williamson Memorial Hospital where he was admitted to receive medical treatment.
Fields was arrested for malicious wounding, abduction of a person and first degree sexual abuse. Hatfield was charged with accessory before and after the fact.
Both were arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court, where bond was set at $300,000 for each defendant. The defendants remain in Southwestern Regional Jail at this time.
The victim was released from the hospital two days after the incident.
