Chattaroy man charged with falsely reporting child abduction

The Williamson Police Department arrested a man Wednesday night for falsely reporting a child abduction.

Frankie Fields, of Chattaroy, was charged after he gave officers a written statement on Nov. 24, claiming Kandal Thacker’s 2-year-old child was abducted from a residence in Williamson. Fields later admitted to falsely filing a report after officers discovered that the child had gone to stay with an aunt and uncle earlier that day.

Fields was arrested on charges of falsely reporting an emergency and was taken to the Southwestern Regional Jail, where he was later arraigned via video by Chief Magistrate Eugene Crum.

The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Duston Deskins late Wednesday evening for domestic assault.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Mingo County Magistrate Court, on Aug. 15, 2009, Deskins used a baseball bat in an attempt to hit his uncle, Chester Deskins. The uncle escaped injury when the defendant missed striking the wall.

Deskins was arrested by Deputy B.T. Sipple II and transported to Southwestern Regional Jail. He was later video arraigned and bond was set at $500.

Driver charged with DUI after allegedly admitting he snorted pills

The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man in Lenore after a one-car motor vehicle accident on Wednesday.

Bill Collins was arrested after investigating Deputy B.T. Sipple II noticed his speech was slurred and that the defendant could barely stand on his own.

The criminal complaint filed in Mingo County Magistrate Court explained that the officer asked Collins if he had taken anything and the defendant admitted to snorting pills.

During the accident, Collins did $500 in damage to property belonging to Chris and Renee Workman.

Collins was arrested on DUI charges and taken to Southwestern Regional Jail. He was later video arraigned by Chief Magistrate Eugene Crum.
