Public offices and other professional firms, along with schools and post offices will be closed today in observance of the national holiday of Veteran’s Day.

Offices in the Mingo County Court House, the Coal House, and in the Memorial Building (Mingo County Magistrate Court, County Health Department and Williamson Public Library) will remain closed all day.

Williamson Postmaster John Masters said the post office also will observe the holiday and there will be no dispatch or deliveries of mail. Patrons will be able to access their rental boxes in the local post office lobby.

Schools throughout the tri-county area also will be closed to give school personnel and students the day off to join in the observance of a day to honor veterans of all wars.

The Williamson Daily News will publish today as usual.

Police and fire departments throughout the area will have crews on duty throughout the holiday period to handle any emergencies that might arise.
